Where We Began
If you were ever curious on the beginnings of our complex take a look at this! Above is a little piece of history . It is one of the original advertisements for the sale of a lower unit. If you live in a lower unit your home was referred to as the Lakeridge. If you live in a Upper Unit it was called Dawnridge.
In reading the description above you can see how far appliances have come. Standard fridges now-a-days are approximately 18 cubic feet at minimum. Your unit was originally furbished with a 13 cubic foot refrigerator. Also you can see how the interior was originally laid out. Did anyone notice in either layout that there is no TV portrayed anywhere in the floor plan above or below.
Another interesting piece of information, our original blue prints had under ground parking. How amazing would that have been!
There has been a little bit of History bestowed upon us about our Chimney Ridge name. The Heritage of Saint Norbert has been trying to retrieve reliable information about our name and has discovered a possibility of where it came from. When the employees of the North West Company were laid off with the merger of the Bay and the North West Company in 1820 they settled in this area. Most likely on the higher land to the North. Their homes were holes in the ground with a roof of sod for the first year or so. In the winter all you could see of the homes was the chimney sticking out of the snow. Hence the nick name!
